Great relationships aren’t found. They’re built.

Relationships can be one of the greatest sources of love, connection and joy in our lives. They can also be where some of our deepest wounds, frustrations and patterns show up.

You might love each other deeply and still find yourselves having the same argument again and again. You might feel disconnected, unheard or resentful. Or perhaps nothing is dramatically wrong - you simply know your relationship could be better than it currently feels.

Couples coaching gives you the space to understand what is happening between you, get underneath the patterns keeping you stuck, and learn how to create something different together.

This isn't about deciding who is right and who is wrong. It's about understanding the dynamic between you, taking responsibility for the part you each play in it, and learning how to relate differently.

Couples coaching isn't only for relationships in crisis

You don't have to wait until your relationship is at breaking point to ask for support.

You might be in a good relationship, but wanting the tools to make it even stronger. Having the same arguments on repeat without ever really resolving them. Feeling more like housemates or co-parents than partners. Struggling with communication, conflict or resentment. Finding it difficult to feel close, connected or understood. Navigating a major life transition. Trying to rebuild trust or connection after a difficult period. Sometimes couples arrive knowing exactly what they want help with. Sometimes they just know something between them isn't working. We can start there.

How I work with couples

My approach draws primarily on Relational Life Therapy (RLT), alongside my extensive experience with the Hoffman Process and my work as an EFT practitioner.

I'm currently in the final stages of my training and accreditation as an RLT Relationship Coach and am a Supervising Hoffman Process Facilitator.

RLT is a practical, direct approach to relationship work developed by renowned family therapist Terry Real. Rather than simply focusing on the argument in front of you, we look at the patterns underneath it: what each of you brings into the relationship, how those patterns interact, and what happens between you when you feel hurt, angry, rejected or disconnected.

Often, ways we learnt to protect ourselves much earlier in life can become the very behaviours that make intimacy difficult in our adult relationships.

Understanding where those patterns come from matters. But insight alone isn't always enough to change them.

So we'll also focus on building the practical relationship skills to do things differently - communicating more effectively, navigating conflict, setting boundaries, asking for what you need, repairing when things go wrong and finding your way back to connection.

Where appropriate, I can also draw on my Hoffman and EFT experience to work with some of the deeper emotional patterns underneath what is happening between you.

Working together

Your relationship has its own history, strengths, vulnerabilities and dynamic, so our work together will be shaped around what is happening for you and what you want to change.

I'll support you, but I'll also challenge you when that's what the relationship needs. Good couples work isn't about having someone referee your arguments or decide which of you has the better case. It's about helping each of you recognise your part in the dynamic and giving you the understanding and practical tools to change it.

The aim isn't a relationship where you never argue, trigger each other or get things wrong. It's a relationship in which you know what to do when you do.

Individual EFT Sessions

Alongside my work with couples, I also offer individual Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) sessions.

Sometimes we understand a pattern intellectually but still find ourselves having the same emotional response. We know we don't want to feel anxious, overwhelmed, angry or stuck — but knowing that doesn't necessarily change what happens in our body when something triggers us.

EFT, often known as ‘tapping’, is a mind-body approach that combines talking about what you're experiencing with gentle tapping on specific acupressure points.

Sessions can be used to work with a wide range of emotional difficulties and patterns, including anxiety and overwhelm, fears and phobias, confidence and self-esteem, difficult memories, relationship patterns, stress and emotional blocks.

The work is individual and focused on what you want support with. We can explore what's happening now, the experiences or beliefs that may be contributing to it, and use EFT to work with the emotional charge attached to them.

You don't need to have experienced EFT before, and you don't need to know exactly where an issue comes from before we begin.
